RUSHFORD, MN - Rodney L. Hoff, 91, of Rushford, MN died on Tuesday, July 24, 2018, at Gundersen Medical Center in La Crosse, WI.
Rodney was born on April 24, 1927, to Clarence and Marjorie (Williams) Hoff in Mabel, MN. He grew up in Mabel and attended school in Mabel. Rodney enlisted in the Navy and served in the South Pacific in World War II. After being discharged, he and his brother, Luverne farmed and raised turkeys for a number of years. On July 31, 1949, he married Lou Jean D. Welper in Hesper, IA. In 1959, Rodney quit farming and moved to Lanesboro, where he worked as a technician for Tri State Breeders, for a number of years. In 1963, Rodney and Lou Jean moved to Rushford. Rodney went to work for the Minnesota Department of Transportation, and retired in 1992, after thirty years of working with the State. Rodney is survived by his son, Dennis (Pat) Hoff of Hastings, MN; daughter, Pamela (Jim) Pickette of Platsmouth, NE; two grandchildren: Melisa (Forrest) Musselman of Mabel, and Shaun (Becky) Hoff of Harmony, MN; two step-grandchildren: Donna Bell of Glenrothes, Scotland, and Jamie (Louise) Ross of Saltash, England; two great-grandchildren: Jackson and Sophie Musselman; and a sister-in-law, Harriet Hoff of Plymouth, MN.
He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, and two brothers: Luverne, and Lyle.
There will be a funeral service for Rodney at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 4, 2018, at Rushford Lutheran Church in Rushford. Burial will be in the Rushford Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Friday at Hoff Funeral Service in Rushford and one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church.
