Rockwell "Rocky" B. Carlson, 82, died Saturday, October 14, 2006, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in Rushford, MN. Rocky was born June 23, 1924, in Norway Township, Fillmore County, MN to Clarence and Anna (Bjorge) Carlson. He married Elaine Ellinghuysen on April 3, 1948, in Winona, MN. Rocky was a superintendent for Tri County Electric for 43 years. Rocky put his family before himself and whole heartedly believed in the city of Rushford. Rocky believed that a person should give back to the community and he certainly did. Rocky was an active member of Rushford Lutheran Church, served on the Board of Directors for the Rushford Clinic, life time member of the Rushford Lions Club and past president, Boy Scout Leader for 15 years and was awarded the Silver Beaver and served on the board for the Rushford Historical Society. Rocky was an avid golfer, enjoyed bowling, played baseball for the Rushford Town Team, gardening and flowers, and loved to travel with his wife Elaine.Survivors include his wife, Elaine; two sons, Bruce (Rhonda) Carlson of Rushford, MN and Dean (Jeanine) Carlson of Overland Park, KS; five grandchildren, Angela (Jim) Smith, Chanel (Eric) Carlson-Dworschak, Joshua, Andrew and Matthew Carlson; four great-grandchildren, Maggie, Noah, Mason and Siri; brother, Truman (Edna) Carlson of Morris, MN; and sister, Margaret Stokes of Kent, WA. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Clair and sister, Marie.A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, October 18, 2006, at 2:00pm at Rushford Lutheran Church with the Rev. Roger Michaelson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call on Tuesday at Hoff Funeral Home - Rushford Chapel from 5-8:00pm and also one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday. At Rocky's request his body has been cremated and there will be no reviewal. Honorary pallbearers will be Rocky's grandchildren and great grandchildren, and all members of the Rushford Lions Club.
