Robert W. Thorson

RUSHFORD, MINN. - Robert W. Thorson, 73, of Rushford, Minn. died on Wednesday, April 22, at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in Rushford. Robert was born on March 3, 1936, in Iowa City, Iowa to Selmer and Macie (Emery) Thorson. He was raised in the Hesper, Iowa area. Robert moved to the Blackhammer, Minn. area where he farmed for 36 years. On November 6, 1976, he married Diane Nelson in Mabel, Minn. the couple moved to Spring Grove, Minn. where they lived for several years. Robert and Diane moved to Rushford in the early 1990's. He enjoyed music, he loved playing the piano and he used to play for an area band. He loved flowers, cars, dancing, and carpentry work. Robert is survived by his wife Diane; one brother, Warren (Bev) Flath of Spokane, Wash.; and one sister Doris (Arnold) Nelson of Rochester, Minn. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, and two sisters. The funeral service for Robert will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 27, at Faith Lutheran Church in Blackhammer, Minn. with the Rev. Leonard Liptack officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday at Hoff Funeral Homes - Rushford Chapel and one hour prior to the service on Monday at the church.
