Robert "Bob" Rossin, 82, of Winona passed away peacefully in his sleep early in the morning on Thursday, September 26, 2019, at Lake Winona Manor in Winona.
Bob was born on August 13, 1937, to Arthur and Agnes Rossin in Winona, MN. He attended Winona Senior High School.
After high school, Bob joined the work force. Initially working for his father, Bob then started working for the Madison Silo Company until its closure. From the time of Madison Silo's closure to when Bob could no longer work, he was a long-haul trucker. Bob was passionate about his truck driving. He hauled many different items, but largely carried steel on the back of his flatbed trailer. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, and playing slots at nearby casinos.
Bob was married to Mona Stolpa on January 20, 2013, then welcoming Mona's three daughters, Kim, Kelly, and Kendra into his life where he treated them as his own. Bob had been previously married to Betty Sloan and had one son, Steven.
Bob was always a tough guy. He was given the nickname, "Popsie" at an early age because even though he was tiny he was as strong as the cartoon character, Popeye. If he was ever cut while working, his family would insist that he go to the hospital. 'Popsie' would shrug, look at the cut, and wrap it in duct tape. Bob always had an answer for everything, he was very witty. Bob was also fun, extremely chivalrous, and determined. Mona will miss their dinner dates and driving around with him having no destination in mind.
Bob is survived by his wife; Mona Rossin; four children, Steve Rossin, Kim Stolpa; Kelly (Dave Thaldorf) Stolpa, and Kendra (Mark) Tibor; grandchildren, Chelsea, Willow (Mikey), Sage (Nathan), Ashley, Sebastian, and Tyler (Nikki); great-grandchildren, Austin, Trystyn, Tianna, Jaylon, Decorreon, Lakoriah, Emari, Nathaniel, and Ezekiel; sisters-in-law, Ruth (Dick) Smith and Joyce Woodworth; and many other relatives and friends.
Bob is preceded in death by granddaughter, Jaida; parents, Arthur and Agnes; brother, Fred (Ethna) Rossin; brothers-in-law Roy (Dodie) Votruba and brother-in-law, Pete Woodworth.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Friday, October 4, 2019, at Hoff Celebration of Life Center with a visitation two hours prior with funeral celebrant Jen Corcoran presiding. Please visit
