HOUSTON, MINN. Robert M. "Bob" Anderson, 79, of Houston, Minn. died on Tuesday, December 9, 2008, at the Valley View Healthcare and Rehab Center in Houston. Bob was born on March 29, 1929, in LaCrosse, Wis. to Laurence and Minnie (Dahle) Anderson. He was raised in Houston and graduated from Houston High School in 1947. Bob attended St. Olaf College and the University of Minnesota Ag School. Following college Bob moved back to Houston to run the family farm which he farmed for many years. Bob was united in marriage with Margaret Gaustad on June 11, 1952, in Houston, Minn. Bob was a member of Cross of Christ Lutheran Church where he also served as president. He was secretary of the Houston County Fair, served as a director on the Mound Prairie Mutual board, was a Tri-County Electric board member for 25 years, and was a representative for Dairyland Cooperative. Bob enjoyed music, playing the accordion, reading, golfing, antique cars, and antique John Deere tractors which inspired him to host Plowing Days on his farm. Bob is survived by his wife, Margaret; one son, Peter (Barbara) Anderson of Orlando, Fla.; one daughter, Jill (Stephen) Zmyewski of Houston; three grandchildren: Andrew (Rebecca) Anderson, Kristina and Justin Zmyewski; and by two brothers: Sigurd (Elsiemae) Anderson of Cross Lake, Minn., Arnold (Sally) Anderson of Madison, Wis. The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 13, at Cross of Christ Lutheran Church in Houston with the Rev. Lane Zaffke officiating. Following the service Bob's body will be cremated with burial of his cremated body taking place in the spring at Stone Church Cemetery in Houston. Friends may call from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday at Hoff Funeral Homes Houston Chapel, and one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church.
