St. Charles, Robert L. Ryan, 79, of rural St. Charles died Thursday evening of congestive heart failure, at Whitewater Healthcare Center in St. Charles. Robert was born September 16, 1925 in rural Olmsted County to Phillip and Elsie (Fender) Ryan. He served in the US Army during WWII and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. On June 25, 1947 Robert married Della Krusmark in Plainview. They farmed in rural St. Charles their entire married lives. Della died February 21, 1984. Robert was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in St. Charles. He was a lifetime member with 41 continuous years of Elgin American Legion Post #573, a lifetime member with 35 continuous years of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aeire #2228 of Rochester. He also was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association. Survivors include a son Richard R. (Debbie) Ryan of Rochester, three daughters, Barbara Sisco of Chandler, AZ; Linda L. (Tom) Morin and Penny A. (Martin) Loso, both of Minneapolis, 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and man's best friend, Annie. In addition to his wife, Della, Robert was preceded in death by two children Margaret Ann and Rodney Roy and two brothers, James and Ralph Ryan. Funeral Services will be 11AM Monday at Hoff Funeral Home's ? St. Charles Chapel, with Rev. Mark Wilms of Faith Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will follow in Little Valley Cemetery in rural Plainview. Friends may call from 4-7 PM Sunday and one hour before services Monday at Hoff Funeral Home's ? St. Charles Chapel. The Elgin American Legion will conduct military graveside honors at the cemetery. Memorials are preferred to Faith Lutheran Church of St. Charles.
