Robert J. Braun

Robert J. Braun, 63, of St. Charles died with his wife Laurie Braun, on Sunday, July 3, 2005, at their home, due to a house fire. Robert was born on December 27, 1941 in St. Charles, Minn. to Jacob and Mary (Schleck) Braun. He attended St. Charles High School and graduated from Winona Vocational School with a welding degree. He married Sharon Dorn Mayfield and they were later divorced. He married Laurie Braun on September 26, 1986, in Rochester Minnesota. Robert worked as a welder. He worked for Kwik Trip and at Mike's Food Center in St. Charles as a meat cutter. He lived all of his life in the St. Charles area. He enjoyed the simple things in life: attending parades, gardening, camping, fishing and hunting. He is survived by one son, Chad Braun of Utica, Minn.; three daughters: Brenda (Roger) Haag of Utica, Minn., Jodi (Curt) Haag of Lewiston, Minn. and Kelly (Joe) Rowecamp of Eyota, Minn.; ten grandchildren; three brothers: Harold (Judy) Braun of Grants Pass, OR, Jim (Arlene) Braun and Tom Braun both of St. Charles, Minn.; and two sisters: Ev Evers of Grand Forks, ND and Barb (Duane "Shorty") Schuette of St. Charles. He was preceded in death by one son, Rick, one sister, one niece and one nephew. There will be a Memorial Mass for Robert and his wife Laurie at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 6, at the St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in St. Charles with the Rev. James Callahan and the Rev. Sharon Johnson officiating. Burial of his cremated body will be at a later date. Friends may call from noon until the time of services on Wednesday at the church.
