WINONARobert "Bob" Edward Malewicki, 77 of Winona, died Tuesday, October 13, 2015 at Gundersen Health System in La Crosse.Bob was born June 10, 1938 in Winona to Edward V. Malewicki, Sr. and Vivian (Root) Malewicki. He graduated from Cotter High School in 1957 while working part-time at the Hot Fish Shop. Bob was inducted into the U.S. Navy on August 30, 1961. He served on the USS Kearsarge (CVS-33) as an Aviation Ordinance man. The ship was involved with multiple NASA projects involving the recovery of astronauts. Bob was honorably discharged in 1965. On November 10, 1962, he was united in marriage to Barbara Gady at St. Martin's Lutheran Church in Winona. Together, they had two children, Lynn and Rob. In earlier years, they spent many summers camping with friends throughout the area before finally settling down at Indian Creek Resort in Wisconsin. Bob loved to fish except for when he happened to catch one and then he had to clean it.From selling to delivering to rotating, from Thomson, IL to Winona, MN, Bob worked for Goodyear for over 40 years, starting when he was 18 years old. In retirement, he enjoyed watching Minnesota sports, taking care of the yard, watching the Young and the Restless with Barb, and looking out the window watching the world go by in Goodview. He was strong-willed and had a great sense of humor. He is survived by his wife of nearly 53 years, Barbara of Winona; daughter, Lynn Malewicki of Austin and her children, Matthew and Brianna Titel; son, Rob Malewicki of Apple Valley and his children, Sean, Justin, and Mason Malewicki; siblings, Edward (Kay) Malewicki, Jr. and Betsy (Jerry) Zenk; sisters-in-law, Gay Lynn Miranda and Bonnie (Bob) Grant; and many nieces, nephews, friends, and special buddy Spanky. Bob was preceded in death by his parents; sister-in-law, Debi Steinfeldt; brother-in-law, David Miranda and close friends, Dick Kuhlman and Bob Catton.Visitation will start at 11 a.m., and continue until the Funeral Service at 2pm, Sunday, October 18, 2015 at Hoff Celebration of Life Center in Goodview with Reverend Richard Moore of St. Martin's Lutheran Church officiating. Following the service, full military honors will be provided by the American Legion Leon J. Wetzel Post #9 with a luncheon to follow. Bob will be laid to rest at Hiler Cemetery near Nodine.To best honor Bob's life, please wear your favorite Minnesota Vikings shirt to the visitation.
