Dover, Robert Garber Brubaker, 89, of Dover, died Saturday, March 19, 2011 at Sunrise Cottages in Rochester. Bob was born May 29, 1921 in Conewago Township, Pennsylvania to Allen and Barbara (Garber) Brubaker. He and Mary Sheaffer were married April 22, 1944 in Manheim, PA. He started farming in Ititz, PA and later in the Mount Joy Donegal area before moving to Elizabethtown, PA. Later, they moved to rural Dover, MN to farm in 1975. They later moved in to Dover. Farming was his life. He also enjoyed traveling, including trips to Russia and Hawaii and wintering in Texas. Bob was a member of the Dover United Methodist Church. Survivors include two children; Larry (Betty) Brubaker of Dover and Faye (Mahlon) Geib of St. Charles, eight grandchildren; Keith (Tracy), Michele, Aimee and Lynelle Brubaker, Neil (Christy) and Jason (Keli) Geib, Renea Mohler and Dawn (Tim) Baker, 14 great-grandchildren; five sisters; Lois (Titus) Boll, Arlene Martin, Ruth Weidman, Laura Brubaker and Doris (Roy) Horst, all of Pennsylvania and a sister-in-law Shirley Brubaker of Tennessee. He was preceded in death by his wife Mary in 1988; a brother Jim and two brother-in-laws, Lloyd Martin and Ray Weidman. Bob's family would like to say thank you to the many people and places that cared for him during his declining years, especially the staff at Sunrise Cottage - 7. A Funeral Service will be 11 a.m., Monday, March 28 at Hoff Funeral & Cremation Service - St. Charles with the Reverend Heather E. Klason officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Dover. Visitation will be 3 - 6 p.m., Sunday at the funeral home.
