Robert “Bob” Angst passed away on July 17, 2024, peacefully at his home. He was born on May 24, 1934 to Clarence Angst and Helen Rothering Angst in Winona, MN. He was the last remaining sibling in his family.
He is survived in death by his wife, Judith (Gibbs) Angst; children, Russell (Linda) Angst, Douglas (Michelle) Angst, Kristyn (Robert) McCaffrey; grandchildren, Luke, Benjamin, and Olivia; great granddaughter, Gracelynn; step grandchildren, Josh (Kimberly) Jones and Matt (Zarah) Jones; step great grandson Oliver; and numerous nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Helen; siblings, Willard, Laverne, Irvin, Olive Hitner, John, and Richard.
Robert attended Gilmore Valley School and Cotter High School and graduated in 1953 and then he joined the Navy from 1953-1957. He served on a submarine. He had the privilege of going on an Honor Flight in 2021.
Upon returning from service, he worked at Angst Motor Company for his dad. He worked in construction for many years including Madison Silo, Rollingstone Lumber and Schwab Construction.
Bob and Judy were married for 63 years. They built a beautiful homestead on 136 acres where they enjoyed it for 50 years.
He loved deer hunting, fishing, gardening, farming, snowmobiling, playing pool, wintering in the south, and making good memories with his close friends and family. He never met a stranger that he couldn’t make friends with. In his older years, he really enjoyed intarsia woodworking and made multiple pieces of furniture that will be treasured by all for years to come.
He especially loved spending time with all of his children and grandchildren and great granddaughter.
There will be private services at a later date in Preston State Military Cemetery.
