HOUSTON, MINN. - Richard W. Boldt, 72, of Houston, died on Sunday October 11, 2009, at the Valley View Healthcare and Rehab Center in Houston following a brief illness with brain cancer. Richard was born on January 8th, 1937, in Houston Township, Minn. to Harvey and Edna (Beckman) Boldt. He attended Swede Bottom Country School and graduated from Houston High School. Richard married Nellie Smith on September 19th, 1957. He worked at the Nelson Feed Store for a time and then farmed in Looney Valley. Richard enjoyed spending time with his family, driving the red pickup around the valley and tractor pulling his Ford 4000. He will be greatly missed. Richard is survived by his three children: Gary (Pam) Boldt of Rochester, Minn., Greg (Tammy) Boldt of Houston, and Tamara (Timothy) Boldt of Houston; ten grandchildren: Scott (Samantha), Justin and Shelby Boldt, Eric (Shannon), Jessica, Heather and Michael Boldt, Tanner and Trisha Johnson, and Teddi Boldt; four great-grandchildren: Jayden Serres, Carson, Aubry and Rylee Boldt. He was preceded in death by his wife Nellie nine months ago, parents and one sister, Darlene. Visitation for Richard will be from noon to 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 15, at Hoff Funeral Homes - Houston Chapel. Graveside services will follow the visitation at Silver Creek Cemetery in rural Houston. There will be a lunch gathering at Looney Valley Lutheran Church following the graveside service.
