Richard Taylor Percy, 79, of Lewiston, MN, died Sunday August 27, 2006 at the Lewiston Villa where he had been the past week with his wife. He had fought a lengthy battle of cancer.Dick was born August 29, 1926 in Fort Dodge, IA to Harold and Alys (Taylor) Percy. The family moved to Winona, MN in 1936. He attended Winona Schools. He was united in marriage to Phyllis Paulson in 1949. They had been married for 57 years. He joined the Army during World War II where he served as a medic in various countries. After returning home, he began his career in flour milling at Bay State Milling. He worked there as a traffic manager. Dick's job took him and his family to various cities, ending in Chattanooga, TN, as Southeast District Manager of Cargill. He retired in 1988 and moved to Lewiston, MN. After retirement, Dick enjoyed golfing at Westfield, bowling at Westgate, and playing league pool for the Rec Bar in Lewiston. He and Phyliss took many trips on the Q. E. II to Ireland and Scotland to study his ancestry of which he was very proud. He also loved to hop in his car and travel.Dick is survived by his wife, Phyliss of Lewiston, MN; four children, Jeff (Jeannie) Percy of Winona, MN, Joanie (Bernie) Merchlewitz of Lewiston, MN, Kathy (Paul) Mickelsen of Butler, MO, and John (Gina) Percy of Cleveland TN; five grandchildren, Craig (Michelle) Turnbell of Buffalo City, WI, Cory Smith, Brooke, Rachel, and Jake Percy all of Cleveland, TN; two great grandchildren, Brittni and Conner Turnbell; and one sister, Jean (Ralph) Polachek of Oak Forest, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Georgia Boyd; and brother, Harold Percy.Hoff Funeral Home ? Lewiston Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
