Halverson, 74, of La Crosse, Wis. and formerly of Houston, Minn. died on Thursday, May 14, 2015, at the Veterans Hospital in Tomah, Wis. He was born on September 6, 1940, in Rushford, Minn. to Ralph and Josephine (Virock) Halverson. Richard grew up in Houston, Minn. and graduated from Houston High School in 1958. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and served from 1963-1965, where he became part of the military police at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.He retired from Trane Company in La Crosse in 2002, where he worked for thirty-three years.His true passion was to fish, especially for walleyes. He went on numerous fishing trips to Northern Minnesota and Canada with his brother and other times with groups of his friends.Richard is survived by his brother, Roger (Sharon) Halverson of Boscobel, Wis.; his nieces, Jennifer (Pat) Hromadka of Boscobel, Wis. and Rebecca Halverson (Brock Siedlecki) of Fitchburg, Wis. He is also survived by many Virock and Halverson cousins.Richard was preceded in death by the love of his life, Diane Soller and his parents, Ralph and Josephine Halverson. The funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 19, at Cross of Christ Lutheran Church in Houston with the Rev. Lane Zaffke officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Tuesday at the church. Burial will follow the service at the Rushford Lutheran Cemetery in Rushford, Minn.
