Richard "Rich" Bambenek, 52 of Winona, died March 5th at his home in Winona surrounded by family.
Rich was born on September 12, 1964 in Winona to Richard Bambenek and Phyllis (Glende) Bambenek. Rich grew up in Winona and spent time in the hills around the area, pursuing his love for the outdoors and ginseng hunting. After high school, Rich received his associate's degree at Southeast Technical College. Rich then moved to Cincinnati, OH to pursue his career with the FBI, until returning to Winona, after meeting the love of his life, Debbie. They were united in marriage on May 6th, 1989 at St. Stan's in Winona. Rich began work at Watlow in 1988. Together they had two children, Chelsea and Hunter. Time spent with family and close friends meant everything to Rich. He always believed that life should never be taken for granted.
Rich is survived by his wife Debbie (Gappa) Bambenek; daughter, Chelsea Bambenek; son, Hunter Bambenek; parents, Richard C. and Phyllis (Glende) Bambenek; sister Patti (Les) Miller; sister Ann (Jim) Stanislawski; and brother David (Jean) Bambenek; and several nieces and nephews.
Rich is preceded in death by his grandparents, Chauncey and Katheryn (Ambroz) Bambenek, Elmer and Anna (Przbylski) Glende and his father in-law, Allen Gappa, who was a great influence on Rich.
Honorary Pallbearers include: Dana Blong, Wayne Wicka and Debbie Kay Gappa.
Visitation for Rich will be held on Thursday, March 9th from 2:00pm-6:00pm, with a memorial service starting at 6:00pm, at Hoff Celebration of Life Center, Goodview, MN.
