Rhoda Ella Kalmes

Rhoda Ella Kalmes, 85, or St. Charles died Saturday January 24, 2009 at Golden Living Center East in Rochester. Rhoda was born March 21, 1923 in Altura to Edward J. and Hattie (Stoos) Brown. She and Robert Kalmes were married May 30, 1943 in Omaha, Nebraska. They made their home in St. Charles where Rhoda had worked at Jim's Red Owl Store and was an Avon representative for many years. Rhoda belonged to St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in St. Charles, Catholic Daughters and St. Joseph Unit. She is survived by her daughter Helen Kalmes of Rochester. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert on January 30, 2004, a daughter Carol Ann on July 25, 1971 and a sister Norma Haack in 2003. A Funeral Mass for Rhoda will be at 11AM Wednesday at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church with The Reverend Jams Callahan officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Oak Ridge. Friends may call from 5-8PM Tuesday at Hoff Funeral Home in St. Charles. They may also call one hour before services at the church. A Rosary will be said at 5:15 PM Tuesday at the funeral home.
