Regis Ann (Erickson) Wright, age 73, of St. Charles, MN, passed away peacefullyat Season's Hospice in Rochester, MN on Wednesday, January 26, 2005,of cancer. Preceded in death by her father,Clarence Erickson, Regis is survived by her mother, Angeline Erickson,of Fairmont, MN, her brother Richard (Carol) Erickson, of Sherburn, MN, and her brother Earl (Ina) Erickson of Superior, WI. Regis is also survived by her loving husband Dr. Robert C. Wright, St. Charles, and their five children, Thomas (Pam) of Minnetonka; Barbara Wright-Quarton of Rochester; Gregory (Karen) of Eden Prairie; Scott (Pamela) of Vadnais Heights; and Lori (Eric) Severson of Watertown, along with 14 grandchildren. Regis was born on January 2, 1932 in Fairmont. She earned her teacher'scertificate at Macalester College in 1951, and taught in Thief River Falls, MN. Robert and Regis were married in Fairmont in 1953. After her husband graduated from dental school, Regis became a homemaker in St. Charles. While raising 5 school-age children Regis earned her B.A. in Education from Winona State University in 1971. She taught Head Start in St.Charles, and was a popular substitute teacher in the Dover-Eyota and St. Charles Schools. She also worked for J.B. Hudson and Dayton's Jewelry in Rochester. Regis and her husband were avid antique collectors. Regis was active on the St. Charles Library Board (Past President), the MN State Dental Auxiliary, St. Anne's Society, among other church and civic functions. Regis loved music and taught private piano lessons. She played the organ and piano for church services, school functions and community events. She encouraged her children and students to travel and to study history, literature and foreign languages. She was the President of the AFS (Student Foreign Exchange) Chapter in St. Charles, and active in AFS for many years. The Wright family hosted foreign students and visitors in their home. For the last 30 Regis devoted much of her free time to antique rug hooking. Her hobby developed into a passion, which she shared with students of many ages who learned the art of dying wool and designing rugs and wall-hangings. Regis was active in the Decorah Rug Hook School in Decorah, IA, and she taught rug hooking for Rochester Community Ed. Regis was especially proud of her work to keep this centuries-old craftalive. Her work will adorn many homes for generations to come. Visitation, 4 -8 p.m., Friday, Jan. 28, 2005 at Hoff Funeral Home, St. Charles. Funeral service 11 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 29, 2005, at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, St. Charles, MN. Private interment at Hillside Cemetary, St. Charles. A Rosary will be recited at 4:30 PM Friday at the funeral home.Memorials can be made to St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church or the St. Charles Public Library.
