Raymond W. Barclay

HOUSTON, MINN. - Raymond W. Barclay, 89, of Houston, died on Friday, January 11, 2008, at the Valley View Nursing Home in Houston, Minn. Raymond was born on August 13, 1918, in Kennard, Texas to John H. and Cora (English) Barclay. He was raised in Texas. Raymond was a veteran of WWII serving in the U.S. Army in the 602nd Tank Battalion. He was very proud to have served his country. Raymond worked in the Texas oil fields for most of his career. He married Evelyn Todd. They were later divorced. Raymond moved to Houston, Minn. in 1996, to be near his daughters. He married Clara Griffith. She died in 1997. Raymond is survived by two daughters: Deanna (Ronald) Peterson of Houston, Minn. and Carol (Virgil) Andrist of Kasson, Minn.; one step-daughter, Linda (Leonard) Moran of Texas; one step-son, Paul Griffith, of Colorado; six grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren; and two sisters: Elaine (Howard) Martin and Sibyl Kirby, both of Texas. He was preceded in death by his wife, one grandson, and two sisters. The funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 15, at Hoff Funeral Homes - Houston Chapel. Burial will be in the Silver Creek Cemetery in rural Houston. Friends may call from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
