WINONA, MINN. - Raymond J. Kammerer, 92, of Winona, died on Saturday, September 19, 2009, at Lake Winona Manor in Winona. Raymond was born on August 25, 1917, in Wilson, Minn. to Edward and Helen (Koenig) Kammerer. He was raised in the Wilson area where he farmed all of his life. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. On January 24, 1945, Raymond married Bernadine Ashelin at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Winona. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and was an usher there. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Aide Assoc., Club 99 Card Club, Wilson Creamery Board for 25 years, and was a lifetime member of the KC's. Raymond loved farming, traveling with his wife, and was known as a great handyman. He is survived by six children: Karen (Jeffrey) Walch of Elkador, Iowa, Ronald (Lynda) Kammerer of Goodview, Minn., Lyle (Cynthia) Kammerer of Wilson, Minn., Daryl Kammerer of Lewiston, Minn., Judith (Dean) Belter of Wilson, Minn., and Jenelle (Kenneth) Faas of Winona; 14 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; one sister, Marie (Gene) Bergler of Winona; and by many nieces and nephews. Raymond was preceded in death by his wife, six brothers, and two sisters. There will be a Funeral Mass for Raymond at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, September 23, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Winona with the Rev. William Becker officiating. Burial will be in the St. Mary's Cemetery in Winona. Friends may call from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday at Hoff Funeral and Cremation Service - Hansen Goodview Chapel and one hour prior to the Funeral Mass on Wednesday at the church.
