Randy Lee Hahn, 60, of Utica died Thursday, September 28th at his home in hospice care. Randy was born August 1, 1957 in Preston to Darrell and Louise (Viktora) Hahn. He grew up in the Preston, Chatfield and Lanesboro areas and attended Chosen Valley High School in Chatfield. Randy worked with his dad on their farm before becoming a logger. On March 21, 1980 Randy and Sherry Boettcher were married at the Utica Presbyterian Church and made their home in Utica. He worked as a self-employed logger as well as contracting with Root River Hardwoods and Hartzell's logging. Randy loved working in the woods. He also liked to hunt coons, fish and hunt ginseng.
Survivors include his wife Sherry, three children; Jamie and Justin of Utica and Tanya (Adam) Pederson of Plymouth, three grandchildren, Natalee Hahn, Alexis Hahn and Tiarra Herfel (Hahn), his mother Louise Hahn of Spring Valley and six siblings, Richard Hahn of Spring Valley; Karen Schwartz (Kevin Olson) of Elgin; Ronald Hahn of Adams; Rodney Hahn of Spring Valley; Bobby Hahn of Wykoff and Kristi (Craig) Burch of Spring Valley, several nieces and nephews and his loving dog Smokey. Randy was preceded in death by his dad Darrell.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Hoff Funeral Service in St. Charles, with the Reverend Tim Gerarden of Utica Presbyterian Church officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery in Utica, with a reception following in the Utica Presbyterian Church. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home.
