Ralph William Hughes Jr., 93 of St. Charles, died Monday, April 11, 2016 at Mayo Clinic Health Systems - St. Mary's Campus.
Ralph was born July 26, 1922 in Rochester to Ralph and Grace (Ayshford) Hughes. He graduated from St. Charles High School in 1940. On March 15, 1942, he married Della Fay Thompson. Ralph served his country honorably in the United States Army from 1942-1946. He owned Ralph's Radio and TV and worked for many years at Pace Electronics.
Ralph was very active in the American Legion Hugh Watson Post 190, joining in 1946. He could often be seen riding his bike throughout town. Ralph had a great love of flowers and gardening.
He is survived by two daughters, Beverly (Gerald) Ihrke of Eyota and Joyce (Steve) Spang of West Bend, WI; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
Ralph was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Della in 2008; sister, Bernice Probst; and brother, Gordon Hughes.
Memorial Service will be 11 a.m., Saturday, April 16, 2016 at Hoff Funeral & Cremation Service - St. Charles, led by Funeral Celebrant Jenny Hoff. Military Honors will be provided by American Legion Hugh Watson Post 190 and VFW Post 5630. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m., Friday and one hour prior to the service.
