Ralph E. Albrecht, 96, died on Friday, July 19, 2024, at Galena Manor in Galena, Ohio, where he spent the last three years to be near family. Ralph was born on October 25, 1927, the sixth of eight children born to Paul A. and Adina (Bunke) Albrecht in Winona, MN.
He was united in marriage to Virgil Luhmann on June 14, 1947, in Winona. Ralph honorably served his country in the US Air Force from 1951 to 1955 and was stationed in many locations throughout the Korean War. Ralph was a hard worker, an active member of his community, and great friend to many. He worked at Peerless Chain in Winona for 45 years as a tool and die maker, shop foreman, tool estimating engineer and president of the union. Ralph was an active member of St. Matthew’s church, serving as an usher, church councilman, school board member and building and grounds committee member for many years. Often you could find him painting or repairing something at the church or school. He was also an active member of the American Legion, Westfield Golf Club, and was a board member at Sauer Memorial Home. He enjoyed traveling, gardening, playing cards, golfing, and fishing and boating, especially with his grandkids. And of course, he was an avid Vikings and Twins fan.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 67 years, his son Paul F. Albrecht, five sisters and one brother. Ralph will be sorely missed by his daughter Anne (Steve) Lias, daughter-in-law Pam Albrecht, grandson Adam (Molly) Albrecht, granddaughters Alison (Tim) Mahoney and Andrea (K.C.) McCluskey, eight great-grandchildren, and sister Shirley Giel.
Funeral Service will be 10 a.m., Saturday, July 27 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Winona. Visitation will be held at Hoff Celebration of Life Center from 5pm to 7pm on Friday, July 26, and one hour prior to the service at church. He will be laid to rest at Woodlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church, 766 W. Wabasha St., Winona, MN 55987, or Tranquility Hospice Care, 1949 State Route 37 West, Delaware, OH 43015.
