Ralph A. Doblar

RALPH ARNOLD DOBLARLoving husband and father, Ralph Arnold Doblar, 89, passed away on August 3, 2011 at his home in LaCrescent, MN. Ralph "King" Doblar was born at home on September 25, 1921 to John and Galena (Jore) Doblar. He attended Money Creek School until taking over the family farm at sixteen years of age when his father passed away. He married Thora Lou Eiken on October 20, 1950 and they made their home on the family farm in Money Creek. While farming, Ralph also drove the school bus for thirteen years. In 1975 he quit farming and began working as a custodial engineer in the LaCrescent school system. Ralph retired in 1980 due to ill health. In 2000, Ralph and Thora sold the family farm and relocated to LaCrescent.Ralph was a member of the Money Creek Methodist Church where he held numerous offices. He also served on the school board, Money Creek town board and was president of the Money Creek Cemetery Association for many years. Ralph was preceded in death by his wife, Thora on June 28, 2011, as well as one brother, two sisters and one grandson. He is survived in death by his four children: Mary Jane Dankowski, Carlsbad, CA, Sue (Greg) McDonald, Duluth, MN, Scott Doblar, Winona, MN and Lisa Doblar, Minneapolis, MN; sister, Hazel Olstad of Rushford; grandchildren: Christopher Dankowski, Oceanside, CA, Brooke Dankowski, San Diego, CA, Bryan McDonald, Duluth, MN, Megan McDonald, Portland, OR and Benjamin Doblar, Minneapolis, MN.For those of us who had the privilege of knowing him, Ralph will live in our memories, in our hearts and thru the country road near his birthplace that bears his name.There will be a memorial service for Ralph at 4pm on Friday, August 5 at Hoff Funeral & Cremation Service in Houston with Rev. Mark Bengston officiating. Burial will be in Money Creek Cemetery. A short visitation will be held at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Money Creek Methodist Church.
