"Dog" James A. Daggit

"Dog" James A. Daggit, 53, died Tuesday, January 1, 2008, at his home in Winona, MN. Dog was born January 26, 1954 in Valley City, ND. Dog came to Winona to attend Winona State University. While in college he worked at Shorty's as a cook where he met and later married Deborah Kruse. They had lived in St. Paul Park, MN for five years where Dog as a volunteer firefighter. Dog and Deb then returned to Winona where they owned and operated the Dog House. After selling the bar and restaurant he continued working for the establishment under the new owners, Joey's and now Schniepp's. Dog was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Winona. He was also a member of the Athletic Club, Eagles Club and Elks Club. Dog enjoyed spending time with "The Boys", playing golf, being a Vikings fan and an avid fan of the Winona State Boys Basketball team. Dog also enjoyed driving his grandchildren to school every day. Dog is survived by his three children, Jessica (Rhett) Zenke, Samara Daggit and Chase Daggit all of Winona; grandchildren, Megan, Madison and Mason Zenke; brothers, John (Sharon) Daggit of Cottage Grove, MN and Jeff (Teri) Daggit of St. Paul Park, MN; sister-in-law, Donna (Steve Brown) Kruse of Winona; and brother-in-law, Donald (Maria) Kruse of Wellington, FL. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Deborah and sister, Kathy.A Funeral Mass will be offered on Saturday, January 5, 2008, at 11:00am at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church with the Rev. Thomas J. Hargesheimer officiating. Entombment will take place in St. Mary's Cemetery in Winona. Friends may call on Friday at Hoff Funeral and Cremation Service Hansen Goodview Chapel from 4-8:00pm where there will be a Christian Prayer Service at 7:30pm.
