RUSHFORD, MINN. - Phyllis M. (Skarstad) Christopherson, 85, of Rushford died Sunday, March 5, 2006, at her home. She was born on July 4, 1920 in Peterson, Minn. to Dr. N.A. and Bertha (Thompson) Skarstad. She attended Rushford High School. On September 27, 1941 she married Joseph Christopherson at the Lutheran Parsonage in Rushford. After her marriage while Joe was in the Army Air Corps, she lived in Bryan, Texas and later returned to the Rushford and Peterson area. She ran Joe and Don's Café, worked at Niggle Café, and ran the Snack Bar Café, all in Rushford. In December of 1966, she moved to Winona where she worked at Wincraft. After her husband Joe's death in 1974, she moved back to Rushford and worked at Rush Products. Phyllis was a member of Rushford Lutheran Church. She was an avid trophy winning team bowler. She enjoyed going to the lake, and camping with family. In her later years she enjoyed word and jigsaw puzzles, and having her family around her. She is survived by two daughters: Carol Christopherson, and Lynda Stennes, both of Rushford; four grandchildren: Jim Stennes, and Gary (Kristine) Stennes, both of Rushford; Eric Stennes of Duluth, Minn.; and Nichole Stennes of Rushford; three great-grandchildren: Sawyer Stennes, Madeline Stennes, and Jacob Stennes of Rushford; and by nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers: Robert, Bruce, and Donald, and one sister, Margie. The funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 8, at Hoff Funeral Homes - Rushford Chapel, with the Rev. Roger Michaelson officiating. Burial will be in the Rushford Lutheran Cemetery. Friends may call from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday at Hoff Funeral Homes - Rushford Chapel, and also one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
