HOUSTON, MINN. - Paul Kenneth "PK" Forsyth, 84, of Houston, died on Monday, December 29, 2008, at the Tomah VA Medical Center in Tomah, Wis. following a lengthy illness. Paul was born on August 12, 1924, to Mayme (Schubert) and Henry Forsyth. He graduated from Houston High School in 1941. Paul attended the College of Agriculture at U-W Wisconsin (Madison). He entered the U.S. Navy on September 17, 1942, and served in the South Pacific, including waiting rescue in the ocean after his PT boat was torpedoed. Following a lengthy hospital stay, he was discharged on August 23, 1944. Paul farmed with his mother and brother in Looney Valley. He worked at various jobs, including at the Illinois State Guard Service in Jolliet, Ill. Paul lived in the family home at 214 S. Lincoln Street in Houston. He also lived in Caledonia, Minn. until he entered the VA Medical Center in 2002. Paul was a member of the Rushford Lions Club and the North Presbyterian Church in LaCrosse, Wis. Paul is survived by many nephews, nieces and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Alton C. Forsyth. The funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 3, 2009, at Hoff Funeral Homes - Houston Chapel with the Rev. Scott Skogen officiating. Burial will be in the Money Creek Cemetery in Money Creek, Minn. Visitation is from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home on Saturday. Friends and family are invited for coffee at the Money Creek United Methodist Church in Money Creek following the committal service. Paul always believed that this social gathering was an important part of a funeral. In Lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials to be directed to the Houston County Historical Society.
