Paul Glenn Runningen, 67, of Houston, passed away, February 27, 2015, at the Houston Rehab Center surrounded by his loving family.He was born in LaCrosse, Wisconsin, on May 3, 1947, the son of the late Glenn and Harriet (Schild) Runningen. He grew up around South Ridge and Houston areas, and graduated from Houston High School in 1965. After high school, he entered the United States Navy, where he was sent to patrol the rivers of Vietnam. He came home with Two Purple Hearts. After his service to our country, he worked for Farm and Orchard as a Tractor Mechanic and partsman, then spent the rest of his working career with Nabisco/Kraft Corporation in LaCrosse. He married Pamela (Skifton) Runningen in 1971. They later divorced. He met and became engaged to Violet Belter, with whom he spent the remainder of his days.Paul was a hard-working, honest man who loved his family deeply. He was a caretaker of many, and asked nothing for himself. He enjoyed taking his sons fishing, mowing lawn and riding his scooter. In addition to his fiance (Violet Belter), he is survived by his sons, Brian Runningen (Christy), Rosemount; Matthew Runningen (Tricia), Houston; and six grandchildren: Delaney, Kellen, Wyatt, Wylie, Harper, and Wynnie. He is survived by his ex-wife, Pam Runningen. He is also survived by three siblings: Tom Runningen (Pat Welte), Joan (Dave) Anderson, and Tim (Becky) Runningen; Aunts: Doris Runningen (Milo), Bernice Otto (Frankie), Gladys Meiners (Glenn), as well as many more family and friends. May heaven be filled with cigarettes, Mt Dew, his 1954 "3 on the floor" Chevy, and women with nice teeth. God Bless the Best Dad and Grandpa in the World. You will NEVER be forgotten! Visitation will be at the Hoff Funeral Home in Houston MN Tuesday, March 3rd from 4-8 pm. Funeral service will be at Cross of Christ Lutheran Church in Houston, March 4th at 11am. Full Military Honors will be performed immediately following the service by the American Legion Arnet Sheldon Post #423.
