PETERSON, MINN. - Palmer T. Olson, 82, of Peterson, Minn. died on Friday, February 27, 2009, at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in Rushford. Palmer was born on October 11, 1926, in rural Peterson, Minn. to Ingvald and Hilda (Eggebakken) Olson. He was raised in Peterson and attended Diamond Creek School. He served in the U.S. Army. On July 3, 1954, Palmer married Rosella Berekvam in Winona, Minn. Palmer and Rosie lived in the Winona area for a short time after their marriage. They lived most of their married life in the Peterson area. Palmer worked for Winona General Hospital, Fibrite Company, Schueler Mink Farm, Rochester Monument Company, and for most of his career he was a turkey farmer in the Peterson area. He was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church in Peterson, the Peterson American Legion, and the Rushford VFW. Palmer enjoyed fishing, following his family in their sports activities, and most of all he loved his wife, children and grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Rosie; five children: Cindy Byer, Jeff Olson, Mark Olson, Rick (Lynda) Olson all or Peterson, and Vicky (Don) Quimby of Byron, Minn.; seven grandchildren; Tonya, Eric, Shauma, Jeremy, Tanner, Trey, and Crystal; seven great-grandchildren: Grace, Sophie, Nevaeh, Jaxon, Justin, Alexa, and Emma; two brothers: Louie (Bev) Olson of Peterson, and Gordon (Karen) Olson of Rochester, Minn.; three sisters: Delores (Jim) Wagner of Mount Clemens, Mich., Jean (Carl) Allen of Minneapolis, Minn., and Patricia (Gary) Schultz of Amherst, Minn.; and by several nieces and nephews. Palmer was preceded in death by his parents. The funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, March 2, at Grace Lutheran Church in Peterson with the Rev. Ronald Warnes officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in the East Grace Lutheran Cemetery in Peterson.
