HOFF FUNERAL AND CREMATION SERVICE, HOUSTON, MINN. - 507-896-3127 HOUSTON, MINN. - Owen Michael Fitzgerald, 19, of Houston, Minn. died on Monday evening, October 4, in a motor vehicle accident south of Ridgeway, Minn. Owen was born on October 23, 1990, in Winona, Minn. to Scott and Gail (Haag) Fitzgerald. He attended Western Wisconsin Technical College in LaCrosse, with a major in Architect Design. Last winter, he helped coach the Houston/Caledonia High School wrestling team. He also played on the Western TC baseball team last spring. Owen graduated from Houston High School in 2009. Owen was proud to have been a member of the Houston football team which won the state tournament his senior year. He played baseball and was on the Houston/Caledonia wrestling team. Owen enjoyed being outdoors, working on the farm and spent many seasons hunting deer and turkey with his family and friends. His other interests included working out, snowboarding, four-wheeling, hiking, camping, and snowmobiling. Owen was a hard worker and spent the past several years working for different farmers and neighbors. He and his brother, Austin spent a lot of time together helping John Campe with many different projects. He was currently working at the Root River Sprout Farm. Survivors include his parents: Scott and Gail Fitzgerald of Houston; brother, Austin Fitzgerald of Houston; maternal grandparents: George and Rita Haag of Bethany, Minn.; paternal step-grandparents: Freddy and Kathy Frickson of Winona, Minn.; by many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends; and will be sadly missed by his special friend, Megan Schmitz. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents: Edward and LaVonne Fitzgerald. There will be a Memorial Mass for Owen at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 9, at Cross of Christ Church in Houston, Minn with the Rev. Milo Ernster and Rev. Gregory P. Leif officiating . Burial will be at the St. Rose of Lima Cemetery, in Lewiston, Minn. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday at Cross of Christ Church and one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church.
