Dover, Olive Alice Mitchell, 93, of rural Dover died Friday February 22, 2008 at her home. Olive was born August 1, 1914 in St. Charles to William and Blanche (Richards) Kahring. Following her graduation from St. Charles High School she completed Normal Training with Hattie Boyd. Olive taught rural in schools in the St. Charles area. She later furthered her education at Winona State College. Olive and Dean Mitchell were married June 5, 1939 in Winona. Dean died October 11, 1989. The couple farmed in rural Dover. Olive was also a substitute teacher at Dover-Eyota Schools for many years. She belonged to Sunshine Chapter of the Order of the Easter Star in St. Charles. Olive loved to dance and often danced at the Playmor Ballroom. Survivors include four daughters; Pamela (Douglas) Hayes of Golden Valley, Prudence Mitchell of Rochester, Penny Dupont of Colorado Springs, CO and Paget (Mark) Mitchell of Dover, three grandchildren; Shawn & Todd Hayes and Aimee Dupont, six great-grandchildren and three sisters; Virginia (Hilbert) Rupprecht of Lewiston, Thersa (Hugh) Vermilya of Dover and JoAnn Giles of Eyota. She was preceded in death by her husband, two brothers Kermit and William and a sister Phylis. Private family graveside services will be at Evergreen Cemetery, Dover in the spring.
