Odin M. Holtegaard

Rochester, MN Odin M. Holtegaard, 91, of Chatfield, MN, died Wednesday, November 19, 2008 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, MN. Odin was born May 26, 1917 in Peterson, MN to Oscar and Minda (Benson) Holtegaard. He served in the Navy during World War II in Guam, South Pacific. On September 31, 1936 Odin married Bernice Miller. He worked as a trucker, hauled milk and cattle. Odin also worked for Leitzen Concrete before farming. He farmed near Spring Valley from 1953 to 1991. From 1992 to December of 2007 he was a carrier for the Post Bulletin. Odin entered Chosen Valley Care Center in January 2008. Survivors include one daughter Pam (Darrell) Danielson of Chatfield, MN; one grandson Greg (Cindy) Danielson of Spring Valley, MN; three granddaughters Dawn, Debbie, and Deanna; one great-great-granddaughter Kiara; one brother Irvin (Arelene) Holtegaard of Lanesboro, MN; and four sisters Benora Smith of Rochester, MN, Aletta Hatlevig of Lanesboro, MN, Myrtle Hatlevig of Lanesboro, MN, and Phyliss (Jim) Potter of St. Charles, MN. He is preceded in death by his wife Bernice in 1985 and four brothers Art, Leonard, Connie, and Raymond. The Funeral Service for Odin will be held at 10 AM on Monday, November 24, 2008 at Sumner Center United Methodist Church in rural Spring Valley with Reverend Rob Kopp officiating. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery, St. Charles. Friends may call one hour before the service at the church on Saturday. Hoff Funeral Home of St. Charles is assisting the family with arrangements.
