RUSHFORD, MN - Norman G. Ebner, 99, of Rushford, MN died on Sunday, December 23, 2018, at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in Rushford.
Norm was born on February 22, 1919, in Rushford, MN to Elmer and Gusta (Eggebakken) Ebner. Norm was raised in Rushford and graduated from Rushford High School. On January 31, 1942, he was united in marriage with Lucyle Johnson. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Norm worked as an electrical lineman for Tri County Electric in Rushford and Dakota Electric in Farmington, MN.
He purchased the Rushford Bottling Company where he and Lu worked side by side for many years. After selling the bottling company, he ran his own electrical line construction business in Rushford. Norm was a very hard-working civic leader. He served on the Rushford City Council, Rushford EDA, Rushford Fire Department for over 20 years, and the Good Shepherd Lutheran Foundation Board in Rushford. Norm was a member of the Rushford Lions Club, American Legion, the VFW, Rushford Lutheran Church and was named Rushford Businessman of the year.
Norm is survived by his two children: Mike (Patty) Ebner and Wendy (Jeff Copley) Ebner of Rushford; three grandchildren: Nick (Sarah) Hall, Robby (Jacki) Ebner, and Brad (Maddi) Ebner; and by three great- grandchildren; Jorli, Drew, and Scarlett.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lu; sister Helen and brother, Vernon.
The family prefers memorials directed to the Good Shepherd Lutheran Home or to the Rushford Fire Department.
There will be a memorial service for Norm at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 31, 2018, at Rushford Lutheran Church with the Reverend Steve Chellew officiating. Burial will be at the Rushford Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday at Hoff Funeral and Cremation Service in Rushford and one hour prior to the service on Monday at the church.
