HOFF FUNERAL HOMES - HOUSTON CHAPEL 507-896-3127 HOUSTON, MINN. - Norma Benson, 89, of Houston died Saturday, December 17, 2005, at Valley View Nursing Home in Houston. Norma was born on September 16, 1916, in Spring Grove, Minn. She was raised in Blackhammer and Spring Grove, Minn. Norma graduated from Spring Grove High School. On April 26, 1934, she married Norman Benson in Minneapolis, Minn. Following her marriage she lived in Houston where she lived the remainder of her life. Norma worked at Benson Brother's Café in Houston for many years as well as Valley High Golf Course and Valley View Nursing Home. She was a member of Cross of Christ Lutheran Church, Eastern Star and the Houston Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed cooking, baking, knitting, bingo, casinos and she loved dogs. She is survived by one son, Richard Benson of LaCrescent, Minn.; three daughters: Mercedes (Sam) Benson of Houston, Minn., Sharon (David) Goede of Spring Valley, Minn. and Kristie Benson of Rochester, Minn.; 10 grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.; and one sister, Evelyn Benson of Houston, Minn. She was preceded in death by her husband, one daughter, Linda Lair, one grandson, Christopher Lair, three brothers, one sister and one daughter-in-law, Marlyce. The funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 22, 2005, at Cross of Christ Lutheran Church in Houston, Minn. Burial will be at the Stone Church Cemetery in Houston. Friends may call from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday at Hoff Funeral Homes - Houston, Minn. and one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the church. Norma's family would like to give a special thanks to the nursing home staff at Valley View Nursing Home, Dr. Daily from Gundersen-Lutheran, Rev. Lane Zaffke and Louise Stromberg for all of their help and supportive care.
