Norbert Andreasen, 90, of Chatfield, passed away peacefully on his tractor the evening of Sept. 5, 2015.
He was born Aug. 25, 1925, in Mower County, to James and Rush (Poppen) Andreason. Norb went to country school on PanHandle Road. He graduated from Stewartville High School in 1943. After graduation, Uncle Sam tapped him on the shoulder, and he went to the Philippines and Okinawa, Japan, as a soldier in the Army during World War II. Norb was discharged, and returned home to farm. He worked for Soil Water Conservation of Olmsted County until 1972. Norb married Arlene Schroeder in 1951 and moved to Chatfield.
He is survived by three sons, Steve (Leanne), of Fountain Hill, Ariz., Daniel (Kathy) of Wadsworth, Ohio, James (Marsha), of Chatfield; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren; his sister, Jane Hoeft, of York, Neb.; and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Arlene (Sept. 5, 2010); parents; brother and sister-in-law; and a brother-in-law.
The funeral is at 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 10, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Chatfield, with the Rev. Preston Paul officiating. Visitation is from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Riley Funeral Homes, Chatfield, and for one hour before services Thursday at the church.
Burial will be in Orion Center Cemetery, Chatfield. Graveside services by VFW Post 6913 of Chatfield.
