Nancy Jean (Strain) Todd, 58 of Winona, died Sunday, September 2, 2018 surrounded by her loving family. Nancy began her valiant fight against metastatic breast cancer in 2012. The ravages of cancer, chemo and radiation may have worn down her body and exhausted her, but it never dimmed her smile or spirit. She fought to the very end and stayed with us for as long as she could.
Nancy was born September 16, 1959 in Winona to Willard and Jean (Schrandt) Strain. She graduated from Winona Senior High. On February 14, 1976, she married the love of her life, Ron Todd, in Winona at St. Stan's Church. Nancy worked for various places including Watkins (Winona), Knitcraft (Winona), Intsys (Chandler), Honeywell (Golden Valley). In October 1992, Nancy and Ron moved the family to Gilbert, AZ and in later years split their time between Minnesota & Arizona to enjoy the best of both places. They greatly enjoyed their time in Sun City at "Rancho Relaxo" and made many good friends there.
Nancy enjoyed spending time with her family, visiting the Humane Society, shopping, traveling and trips to the casino. She and Ron continued almost daily rides in the car up until a week before she passed. Nancy had an exceptional affection for animals. She loved dogs, cats and just about any other animal. Nancy had a special love for her grandchildren Hallie & Tustin and enjoyed taking them on fun outings to places like Fawn-Doe-Rosa.
She is survived by her best friend, Ron; three children, Jason (Jodi) Todd, Melissa (Mark) Durnen and Jesse Todd; two grandchildren, Tustin Todd and Hallie Durnen; brothers, David (Ida) Keen, Richard (Mary) Keen and Jeff (Heidi) Strain; brother-in-law, Marshall Miner; her grand pup, Charlie and many loved nieces, nephews, cousins and extend family members.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Suzanne Miner.
A Celebration of Nancy's life will be 11 a.m., Saturday, September 15, 2018 at Hoff Celebration of Life Center, led by Funeral Celebrant Dianne Rislow. Visitation will be 10 a.m., until the time of the service. She will be laid to rest at St. Mary's cemetery.
