WINONAMyrtle Ruth Denzer, 93, of Winona died Monday, January 19, 2015 at Sauer Memorial Home in Winona.Myrtle was born August 6, 1921 to Paul and Lelia (Holcomb) Selke in Pickwick, MN. She was raised by Mr. and Mrs. Carl Olson in Pickwick. On September 26, 1940 she married Orville Denzer in Detroit, MI. Together they raised three children, Sherry, David, and Esther in Bethany. She worked at Home Produce, a turkey processing plant, and in-home care in St. Charles and her husband, Orville owned a service station and garage in Bethany. Myrtle was a loving person who loved many people and activities. She enjoyed dancing, especially to old time music such as polkas and waltzes. In her younger years, Myrtle liked gardening and then canning the produce she grew. She was a great cook and was known as a hard worker. She also dearly adored her cats that she had over the years especially her cats, Colby and Tiger.Myrtle is survived by her children, Sherry L. Schmitz of Dakota, MN, David A. Denzer of Utica, MN, and Esther (Kenneth) Sparr of San Tan Valley, AZ; 7 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Lola Denzer, Claire Denzer, and Gertie Denzer; and many nieces and nephews.She is preceded in death by her husband, Orville in 1962; siblings, Florence Evans, Evelyn Heddlesten, Leon Selke, Luella Husman, Laura Kearns, Alice Morphew, and half-brother, Ronald Gray.Funeral service for Myrtle will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 24, 2015 at St. Martin's Lutheran Church in Winona with the Reverend Richard Moore officiating. Visitation will take place 2 hours prior to the service at the church. Myrtle will be laid to rest at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery in Norton Township.
