Myrtle Boyum Fenney

Rushford, MNMyrtle Boyum Fenney, 96, a Peterson-Rushford farm wife, passed away March 18 at Good Shepherd Home, where she had resided since 1998. She was born August 12, 1909, to Andrias and Emma Quickstad Boyum. She attended Boyum School and graduated from Peterson High School.Following employment in LaCrosse, she married Maynard D. Fenney on June 18, 1930. She was a life-long member of Arendahl Lutheran Church, where she was active in women's church groups. Family, neighbors, and friends have many fond memories of Myrtle's love for entertaining, the home-cooked meals she lovingly prepared and the many cards and letters she always wrote. In addition, she was an avid gardener and enjoyed the farm life she spent with her husband during their 65-year marriage. She was proud of her Norwegian heritage, which encouraged her interest in geneology. Myrtle was the oldest surviving granddaughter of the Rev. Arne Boyum.She is survived by two daughters, Marilyn (Charles) Boehmke, Rushford, and Ann (Paul) Horswill, Janesville, WI,; six grandchildren, Jeffrey and Jay Boehmke, Lisa Dietrich, Leslie Johnson, Eric Horswill and Elizabeth Paull; and ten great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Ashley, Christopher, and Zachary Boehmke, Joseph Rossitor, Bahama Boehmke, Sarah and Rachel Dietrich, and Brock and Brooke Johnson.Myrtle was preceded in death by her husband in 1995, four brothers and five sisters.Funeral services will be held March 22, 11 a.m., at Arendahl Church, rural Peterson, with burial in Arendahl Cemetery. Friends may call at Hoff Funeral Homes - Rushford Chapel on Tuesday from 5-7:00pm and also one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday. Memorials may be directed to Arendahl Church, Arendahl Cemetery Association or donor's choice. Blessed be her memory.
