WINONAMyrle May "Toots" Krohse, age 89, of Winona, passed away Monday, July 14, 2014 at Sauer Healthcare in Winona, MN following an extended illness. She was born August 23, 1924 in Wabasha, Minnesota to the late Benedict and Emma (Earney) (Butzman) Wehlage. She and her family moved to Omaha, Nebraska during WWII to join the workforce in the production of military aircrafts. In 1943, she married Wilmar Clayton "Red" Krohse, of St Charles, Minnesota, in San Antonio, Texas while he was stationed there. After the war they returned home to Winona. While raising three children, Myrle also worked outside the home in various fields, lastly working at Lake Center Industries. Shortly after Red's death in 1979, she moved to Oregon and then to Sun City, Arizona to be with her daughters, until she again returned home to Winona in 2006. She enjoyed painting, crafts and playing cards.She is survived by her three children, Ralph (Susan) Krohse of Winona, MN, Sandra (Randy) Granger of Thompson, OH, and Janet (Mike) Knudson of Sun City West, AZ; grandchildren, Kendra (Casey) Mann of Winona, MN, Scott (Marnie) of St Charles, MN, Kelly Collier of Avondale, AZ; great-grandchildren, Olivia Mann, Kinser Mann, Samuel Krohse, Benjamin Krohse, Joshua Krohse, Jordyn Collier, Amara Collier; several nieces and nephews, including Christiaan Smyth of Winona, MN. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Tracy Epley; siblings, Bro. Felix Butzman, Ralph Butzman, Benedict Wehlage Jr, Bonita (Butzman) Nistler, and Betty (Wehlage) Smith.A private family gathering in celebration of Myrle will be held on July 26 at the home of her son here in Winona. Burial will follow at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis, MN.Hoff Celebration of Life Center in Goodview is assisting the family with arrangements.
