Winona, Muriel Block, 80, of Winona died Tuesday March 1, 2011 at St. Anne's Extended Healthcare. Muriel was born September 18, 1930 in Mabel to Custer and Myrtle (Peterson) Munson. As a child she moved with her family to Winona. Muriel and Ernest "Ted" Block were married June 11, 1955 in Winona. She worked for Boland's Manufacturing Company for ten years. Once her children were in school she worked for District #861 in food services, retiring in 1992. She enjoyed her flowers, playing cards with her grandchildren, going to the casino with Ted and spending time in the yard combing 'Lady'. Muriel was a good cook, known for her baked beans. She belonged to Faith Lutheran Church, E.L.C.A. in Winona. Survivors include her husband Ted, three sons, Terry (Lisa) Block of Rollingstone, Russell (Kathy) Block of Rochester and Douglas (Janet) Block of Minnesota City, ten grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, two sisters Laura Engel of Beloit, WI, Dorothy Christie of Rochester, a brother Roger (Barbara) Munson of Winona and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her grandson Julian, parents, five sisters; Violet Noeske, Lorraine Gilbertson, Joan Schueter, Lois Erickson and Anna Hauser, and by a brother Hjalmer "Jolly" Munson. Services to Remember Muriel will be 11AM Thursday at Hoff Funeral and Cremation Services - Hansen Goodview Chapel with the Reverend Mark Dumke of Faith Lutheran Church officiating. Interment will be at a later date in Woodlawn Cemetery. Friends may call one hour before services at the funeral home on Thursday.
