Mona Mae Malley, 76, of St. Charles died Monday evening November 10, 2008 at Seasons Hospice in Rochester after a brief illness. Mona was born February 23, 1932 in LeRoy to Franklin and Edna (Nauman) Speer and graduated from high school in Wykoff. She and Clayton Malley were married February 2, 1948 in Fountain, having celebrated their 60th anniversary this year. They moved to Rochester in 1956 where Mona worked for 28 years at the Mayo Clinic. In 1992 they moved to St. Charles. Mona belonged to St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. She loved to spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed traveling, camping, fishing, playing cards, cooking, reading and sewing.Survivors include her husband Clayton, a daughter Jona Dee (Harry) Hines of Rochester, two sons Phil (Vicky) Malley of Lake City and Randy (Sandy) Malley of Rochester, nine grandchildren; Eric Hines, Dr. Kriston Ganguli, Marissa Sterrett, Jason Malley, Jenny Malley, Jamie Malley, Eryn Malley, Nikolas Malley and Alyx Malley, seven great-grandchildren, two sisters, Beverly Nagel of Stewartville and Barbara (Tom) Hockert of Rochester and a brother Stan (Sharon) Speer of Fountain. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Edward and Vernon Speer. A Funeral Mass will be 11AM Friday at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church with the Reverend James F. Callahan celebrating. Friends may call from 5-8 PM Thursday at Hoff Funeral Home in St. Charles. They may also call one hour before services at the church.
