Mildred L. Boehmke, 88, of Lewiston died Saturday, January 11, 2003, at the Winona Community Memorial Hospital in Winona, Minn. She was born on December 6, 1914, in Hart Township of Winona County to Rudolph and Alvina (Oldendorf) Wenzel. She was raised in the Hart area and attended the German School there through the eighth grade. Mildred was confirmed at the St. Johns Lutheran Church in Hart on May 27, 1928. On December 16, 1933 she was united in marriage with Harry Boehmke. Harry died in November of 1993. She farmed with her husband in Wilson and Warren Township until moving to Lewiston in 1975. Mildred entered the Sauer Memorial Home in Winona in 1999. Her interests included needlework, embroidery, crafts, and playing bingo at the nursing home. She is survived by one daughter, Betty (Robert) Faas of Winona; two sons: Richard (Hattie) Boehmke of Jackson, Mich. and Kenneth (Mary) Boehmke of Rushford, Minn.; 9 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers: Alvin and Clarence, and one sister in infancy. The funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 15, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Wilson, Minn. with the Rev. Paul C. Stratman officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday at Hoff Funeral Homes ? Lewiston Chapel where there will be an 8:00 p.m. prayer service and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the church. The family prefers memorials to be directed to the Trinity Lutheran Church or to the Sauer Memorial Home.
