St. Charles, Michele Mae Schrandt, 65, of St. Charles died Monday, December 14, 2015 at her home. Michele was born April 18, 1950 in Tokyo, Japan to Clinton and Virginia (Neebel) Merrill. As a child she lived in many places, including; Panama, Texas and Atlanta. Her family moved to Waterloo, IA where she graduated from Denver, IA High School. Michele married Marvin Schrandt on December 27, 1975 and she became a homemaker. The couple farmed the Schrandt family dairy farm at Fort Atkinson, IA for several years. In 2008 they moved to St. Charles to be near their son. Michele enjoyed making baskets and selling home made bread at farmers markets. Michele had a passion for carving wood figures, leaving a legacy of many carvings for her children and grandchildren. She loved to cook for and feed her family and friends, enjoying the pleasure of baking pizza's in her wood fire stove. Survivors include her three children; Bradley (Shelley) Schrandt of St. Charles, Jon (Kristen) Schrandt of West Union, IA and Kirsten (Junior) Reynosa of Terril, IA and her six grandchildren; Grace, Callie, Javier, Damian, Jayda and Sofia. She was preceded in death by her husband Marvin on December 14, 2012 and by her parents and a brother. Services to Celebrate Michele's life will be 11AM Saturday at Grace Community Church in Eyota with Pastor Mark Young officiating. Friends may call from from 10 - 11 AM Saturday at the church.
