Michael William Jamieson, 54, of Winona died Saturday, April 29 at Lake Winona Manor. Mike was born July 12, 1962 in Pasadena, CA to William and Judy (Flint) Jamieson. The family lived in Pomona until Mike was 9 and then moved to Lewiston, MN to be near William's family and raise Mike and his brother and sister, Larry and Jennifer. After high school, Mike set out into the world trying to conquer it. He had many jobs along the way from Bartending at the Hot Fish Shop in Winona to GE and working at Winona Computer Shop.
It wasn't until after getting sober that Mike learned the true meaning of life. He realized it isn't about making money or having flashy things, it was about the impression you made on this world and what you did to make it a better place. That is when he got into his true passion, helping young men and women struggling with drug and alcohol addiction. He became a counselor and helped start Driftless Recovery Services in La Crosse. He has saved many lives over the years even though he would never say so or brag about it. He received true fulfillment in his work and had a way of connecting with people on a very deep and meaningful level.
Mike met the love of his life through mutual friends in 1999, Cory Werner. The two began dating after a year and were married April 1, 2005, a day Mike surely would never forget. Mike loved spending time with his boys, Lance, Drew and Eric whether it was watching sports, camping, or having in depth, meaningful conversations. He also had a deep love for his 3 Weimaraners.
Mike is survived by his loving wife, Cory; his boys, Lance (Stephanie "Sweetie") Schiltz, Drew (Lindsay) Schiltz and Eric Schiltz; grandchildren, William, Aria and Natalie; siblings, Jennifer (Scott Priest) Jamieson and Larry (Lisa) Jamieson; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Don and Julie Werner; brother in-law, sister in-law and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and his four legged babies, Kody, Jacob and Aggie.
A visitation will be held 2-5 PM with a memorial service at 5 PM, Thursday, May 11, 2017 at the Hoff Celebration of Life Center, Goodview. In lieu of flowers memorials preferred to Driftless Recovery Services, 444 Main St, #301, La Crosse, WI 54601 or Winona Health Hospice.
