Michael J. Goodrich

July 19, 1949 — August 21, 2018

Michael James Goodrich, 69 of St. Charles, died Tuesday, August 21, 2018 peacefully in his sleep. Mike was born July 19, 1949 in Winona, to James and Frances (Kieffer) Goodrich. He graduated from St. Charles High School and Winona State University. Mike married Debra Rehbein, of St. Charles, on August 2, 1975 and together they raised their children, Nicole, LeAnn, and Michael. He was a lifelong resident of St. Charles. He worked for St. Charles High School as a draft teacher, IBM, Bishop Machine Shop, NorthStar Foods, and ended his working career at the St. Charles Post Office as a rural route carrier. Mike spent many years as a woodcrafter and you could always expect to receive some wood trinkets he had recently made with one of his many tools. He was devoted to his children's lives and was always supportive of their extracurricular activities. He was a sports fanatic and always knew which Minnesota team was playing when, where, and all the stats of the game. Some of Mike's lifelong passions were trapping gophers and taking care of his horses. Many of his other hobbies included fly-fishing, guns and trapshooting, and riding his ATV. As Mike's body ailments prevented him from doing all the outdoor activities he enjoyed, he started to invest his time in making Rosaries. In 2014 and 2016, Mike was blessed with his two grandchildren, Christopher and Allie, who helped keep him entertained through many of his hospital stays. There wasn't anything Mike didn't know how to do, unless it was dealing with the ever-changing technology.
Survivors include children, Nicole Goodrich of Lewiston, LeAnn (Scott) Thisius of Cannon Falls, and Mike (Sarah) Goodrich of Rochester; grandchildren, Christopher and Allie Thisius; mother, Frances Goodrich; brother, Bruce Goodrich; and many cousins. Mike is preceded in death by his father, James Goodrich.
Mike lived each day to the fullest and had a heart of gold. He will be missed by many but will forever be in our hearts.
