Michael Patrick "Coach Mike" Donahoe of Chatfield died peacefully at home on Monday, November 28, 2016. Mike was born November 8, 1953, to Vincent and Amy Donahoe in Napoleon, Ohio. He graduated from Chatfield High School in 1971, then served in the US Army. He attended college studying auto mechanics and business.
Mike married Rebecca Peterson, they later divorced. On August 26, 1989 he married Kimberly Rae Winter. They resided in Rochester, Stewartville, and Chatfield. Mike was the Owner/Operator of PPMI Motorsports for twenty years. Mike had a passion for race car driving and vehicle restoration. He was an avid camper, hunter, and fisherman who introduced his children to these hobbies which they enjoyed together for many years.
His final dream was realized in July 2013 when he and Kim purchased the farm previously owned by his parents.
They took what was once a chicken coop and transformed it into their dream home. They moved into their new home in June 2016.
Mike is survived by his wife, Kim, 5 children: Jackie (Paul Kraft) Gunderson, Jeff (Sarah Helget) Donahoe, James (Crystal) Donahoe, Bob (Alyssa Hoth) Donahoe, and Caitlin (Robbie) Castillo. He is also survived by six Grandchildren: Mackenzi, Brady, Abby, Tucker, Daltin, and Beau.
Also surviving are his siblings: Peggy (Craig) Blommer; Pat (Erin) Donahoe; Vince (Robin) Donahoe, Amy Donahoe-Anshus; and Mary (Jorgy) Jorgensen.
Mike was preceded in death by his Parents and Father-In-Law, Larry Winter.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM on Wednesday, November 30 at High Point Church (4545 North Frontage Road, Rochester.) Visitation will continue at church one hour prior to the service at church on Thursday.
A Celebration of Life will be at 10:00 AM on Thursday, December 1 at High Point Church in Rochester.
A committal service with military honors will be held 2:00 PM Thursday at the Minnesota Veterans Cemetery in Preston.
