Mernes Flatten

Mernes Marilyn Flatten, 89 of Houston, died December 9, 2023 at her home.

Mernes was born April 8, 1934 in Virgina, MN to Elmer and Agnes (Harrigan) Mueller.  Following graduation from Central High School in St. Paul, Mernes attended the University of Minnesota and in 1995, she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree followed by a Bachelor of Science degree.  And in 1957, she received a Master's degree.  She married Donald Flatten in December of 1963.  She was a teacher in Spring Grove from 1964-1997 where she taught art, social studies and English. 

Mernes is survived by her son, Reid of Livingston, MT; nieces and nephews, Mark Johnson of Rushford, MN, Jackie Kjos of Galena, IL, Christi James of Byron, MN, Brenda Crews of Loveland, CO, Michelle Larson of Rochester, MN.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Don Flatten; parents, Elmer and Agnes; Don’s parents, Arnold and Annie Flatten; sister-in-law, Beverly Johnson.
