Melvin Oscar Dolalie

Rushford, Melvin O. Dolalie, 85, of Rushford died Friday morning March 17, 2006 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in Rushford. Melvin was born October 14, 1920 in Rushford to Carl and Christine (Thompson) Dolalie. He and Betty Jean Rude were married on August 29, 1949 at Highland Prairie Lutheran Church. The couple farmed on the Dolalie family Homestead their entire married life. He entered Good Shepherd Home in November of 2003. He was an active member of Highland Prairie Lutheran Church. He was also involved in NFO and soil conservation. Faith, family and the farm were all important in Melvin's life. Survivors include his wife Betty Jean, two daughters, Virginia (John) Overland of Hastings and Rita (Brad) Kelly of Lanesboro, five grandchildren; Kristen (Scott) Girnau, Jeremy (Sharon) Overland, Andy, Carrie and Amy Kelly, two great-grandchildren, Isaac and Asher Girnau, and a brother Everett (Shirley) Dolalie of Rushford. Five brothers and three sisters preceded him in death. Funeral Services will be 11AM Monday at Highland Prairie Lutheran Church in rural Rushford with the Rev. Wade Davick officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may call at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Home Chapel in Rushford from 4-7 PM Sunday. They may also call one hour before services on Monday at the church.
