Maynard D. Gilbertson a�" Lanesboro Maynard Duane Gilbertson, 84, of Lanesboro, died Monday morning at the Chosen Valley Care Center in Chatfield. A funeral service for Maynard will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, November 30, 2013 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Lanesboro with Pastor Kerry Eversole officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM a�" 7:00 PM Friday, November 29 at Johnson-Riley Funeral Home in Lanesboro. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday. Burial will be at the Lanesboro Cemetery with Military Funeral Honors accorded by Lanesboro American Legion Post No. 40.

Maynard was born July 12, 1929 to Alvin and Golda (Guttormson) near Henrytown in Fillmore County. He went to work on the family farm at an early age, and had the privilege of living on the family farm for 80 years. From 1954-1956 he served in the Korean War. On April 29, 1967 he married Lois L. Hart at St. John's Lutheran Church in Stewartville. He had the privilege of living on the family farm for the past 80 years.

Maynard was an active member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, serving on the church council and as an usher. He enjoyed puzzles, reading, yard work, and spending time with his grandchildren.

Maynard is survived by his wife, Lois, and children: Carmen (John) Omacht of Stewartville; Duane (Melissa) Gilbertson of Fountain; & Brian (Carrie) Gilbertson of Edgerton, MN; six grandchildren: Gabriel, Alexis, Reece, Mason, Kaylee, and Chase; sister Mary Ann (Herbert) Wurst, and brother Orrin (Marlene) Gilbertson, both of Plainview; brother in law Dale Hart of Waukon, IA; sister-in law Sharon Hart of Stewartville. He is also survived by eight nieces and nephews.

Maynard is preceded in death by his parents and brother in law Duane Hart.
