Maxine (Lemmer) Duffy, 70, of Winona passed peacefully into heaven on Friday, March 2, 2012 after a courageous battle with cancer.Born January 26, 1942 to Lawrence and Elizabeth (Jaszewski) Keen. She was united in marriage to Roger Lemmer, they later divorced. Of that marriage they had three children, Gregory, Jeffrey and Nicholas. She married William (Bill) Duffy. Maxine retired from Peerless Chain Company after 33 years of service. Maxine was a very compassionate person, always there to help someone in need. Whether it was a ride to an appointment, help with a problem, or just someone to talk to, she was always willing to help. She was an active volunteer with many causes and organizations and was hard to refuse when it came to fundraising. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, The Eagles Ladies Auxiliary, the VFW Ladies Auxilliary, and the Redmen Club Degree of Pocahontas. She was an avid Green Bay Packer football fan, and enjoyed friendly competition on Sundays during the season. Maxine will be dearly missed by her sons, Gregory (Gail) Lemmer and Nicholas (Kristina) Lemmer; grandchildren, Katherine, Nathaniel, Madeline and Charlotte Lemmer. She is also survived by her sisters, Phyllis Scattum and Rose Marie Warden; brother John (Judie) Keen; sisters-in-law, Barbara (Keith) Nestingen, Nicolette (Nick) Richmond, Kim Asby; brothers-in-law, Jerome Lemmer, Patrick and John Duffy; and many loving nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her son, Jeffrey; her parents; husband; brother, Benedict; sister, Mary Hertzfeldt; sister-in-law, Joan Jereczek; and brother-in-law, James Lemmer. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30am on Wednesday, March 7, 2012 at the Basilica of St. Stanislaus Kostka. The Very Reverend Thomas J. Hargesheimer will officiate. Visitation will be held from 5-8pm on Tuesday, March 6, 2012 at Hoff Funeral & Cremation Service-Hansen Goodview Chapel and also one hour prior to Mass on Wednesday. Staring at 5pm on Tuesday, the VFW Auxiliary 1287 and Eagles Auxiliary will offer services at the funeral home.
