Maurice Fabian

St. Charles, Maurice E. Fabian, 88, of St. Charles died Monday December 12, 2005 at Rochester Healthcare East. He was born August 25, 1917 in Lewiston to William and Mabel (Bartelson) Fabian. Maurice served in the Army during WWII, stationed in Alaska with the Engineers and playing fiddle in the Army band. He and Doris Nichols were married January 7, 1949 in St. Charles. Maurice worked for Commander Elevator in St. Charles. He worked on the Alfred Steuernagel farm for 18 years. He also worked at Hubbard Foods until retiring. Maurice belonged to St. Matthew Lutheran Church in St. Charles. He enjoyed playing the fiddle, was an avid Twins fan and also enjoyed fishing, camping and playing 500. Survivors include his wife Doris, eight children, Shirley (Michael) Eide of Stockton; Robert and Richard both of St. Charles; Wesley (Heidi) of Hereford, AZ; Pamela (Stephen) Holty of Rochester; Cindy (Douglas) Schommer of St. Charles; Brian of St. Charles and Tammy Broers of Phoenix, AZ, five grandchildren; Priscilla, Melissa, Shane, Michael and Stefanie, five great-grandchildren, Genie, Nicole, Evan, Kristiana and Olivia, two brothers, Harvey (Rosemary) Fabian of Holmen, WI and Truman "Doc" (Donna) Fabian of St. Charles, three sisters, Inez Walters of Goodview, Lorraine (Francis) Neumann of St. Charles and Donna Fabian of Lewiston, and a sister-in-law Edna Fabian of Eyota. He was preceded in death by a brother Melvin and a sister Eunice. Funeral Services will be 11AM Friday at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in St. Charles with the Rev. Michael Hart officiating. Burial will follow in Saratoga Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8 PM Thursday at Hoff Funeral Home's - St. Charles Chapel. They may also call one hour before services at the church.
