Matthew Raymond Stokes, 57 of St. Charles, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, November 23, 2017 at his home. He was born on February 21, 1960 to Francis and Margaret (Welp) Stokes. He graduated from Holy Trinity School in 1978 and enlisted in the United States Army a year later. On October 19, 1986 he married Elizabeth (Tena) and together they had 2 kids. Matthew spent his life doing what he loved, driving semi's. By doing this he was able to have his freedom and independence. He was an over the road trucker and most recently hauled hogs to be closer to his family. Matthew loved boating on the river, camping, going for rides on his motorcycle, and fixing whatever he could get his hands on. He was a jack-of-all-trades and there wasn't a thing he couldn't do. He will be missed dearly by his children, Chelsea (Neil Kos) Stokes and Jacob Stokes; wife of 28 years, Elizabeth Stokes; step-mother, Teresa Stokes; siblings, Mary Warner, Rose Juncewski, Patrick Stokes, Jackie Bance, Joseph Stokes, Carol Chalk, and Timothy Stokes; many nieces and nephews; and his dog, Harley. He is preceded in death by his parents, Francis and Margaret. A Funeral Service will be at 11 a.m., Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at Hoff Funeral and Cremation Service, St. Charles, led by Funeral Celebrant Jodi Heim.
